What is a mixed reality event??

MTV did a special feature on Frogg Marlowe, who will be playing alongside Jaycatt Nico at a RoseDrop Media Circus show on April 22nd here in PDX. The resulting MTV video will tell you tons about how musicians are reaching out to international audiences on a shoestring using virtual reality platforms... it's a must see, check it out at http://www.mtv.com/overdrive/?name=news&id=1545799&vid=119658!

Yet the MTV special on Frogg told only part of the story.

A "mixed reality" event involves real people who play music, hold press conferences, conduct college or university classes, or host any number of other serious or playful activities in the real world while their audience members either attend in person or log on from computers anywhere in the world.

In this way, people from England or Africa or anywhere else can attend a performance being held in a small bar in Portland, for example. They can go to very real classes at Harvard University without ever leaving their own living rooms, or build replicas of their own little neighborhoods in the real world for the enjoyment of people very far away.

Mixed reality events demonstrate how virtual reality is being used as an awesome new, very interactive communications platform.
